Psychotherapy for people working in the arts and creative industries
Being a creative person in our world today can be extremely challenging. There can be so much pressure, from others and ourselves, to pursue a ‘sensible’ or lucrative career and prioritise finances over wellbeing.
Building in time to nourish your creative identity is crucial.
Creative work can be deeply rewarding, but it comes with demands that can be hard to talk about.
Freelancing, precarious work, rejection, comparison, financial uncertainty and the need to turn something you love into a career can all affect how we feel about ourselves and our work.
It might be that your day job is impacting your ability to create as an artist yourself.
You may feel you should be ‘grateful’ to work in a creative field, which can make it harder to implement boundaries or ask for what you need.
The constant negotiation between where you are and where you want to be can be exhausting.
It can be so difficult to prioritise the things that make us feel happy or alive, especially when they may not offer a stable income or even feel like they are very ‘good.’
But making and creating is essential to our wellbeing and ability to understand ourselves.
